Mabel and Friends

Recently recycled book sculpture
entitled Mabel and Friends.
For me the forms are reminiscent of 50's standard lamps,
my husband says they remind him of dressmakers dummies.

  1. I have to agree with both of you Robyn. When I saw the thumbnail pic I thought they were dressmaker's dummies, but now I see them close up they do look like those lovely old 50's lamps my grandmother used to have/make. Very nostalgic and Mabel is such a perfect name.

  2. They remind me of 50's fashion...the full skirted dresses of that era...especially with the name Mabel!

  4. These are just gorgeous Robyn. Imagine you could take heaps of photographs with their beautiful folded shapes overlapping. There is something quite captivating about recoiling books and text. Magic happens.

  5. I thought they looked like both too Robyn - and in fact I almost reached out to try and switch one one! Gorgeous fun.

    1. That's my next challenge FIona - giving them a soft glowing light somehow. The light shining through the page folds is magical.
